BioI am a freelance illustrator and portrait painter working out of Parkville, Maryland. I live with my husband Mike and our two rats, Carmen Sandiego and Elle Driver. I grew up in White Plains, NY and moved to Baltimore to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art, where I majored in illustration and minored in art history. I graduated in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Most of my illustration work is fantastical or mythological in nature. I'm very interested in exploring archetypes.
My non-professional interests include needlework (crochet and embroidery, mostly); sewing and costuming; reading; baking and vegetarian cooking; and collecting corsets, teapots, ornaments shaped like food, and unicorns. Mike and I attend and volunteer at the regional burning (i.e. Burning Man inspired) event Playa Del Fuego.
This blog will be used to share new work both finished and in progress and news updates concerning where you can find my work in print, online, or on exhibit. There may occasionally be public non-art updates on craft projects, belly dance, gardening, and other odds and ends about me.
As of June '09, I'm also using this as my "personal" journal instead of maintaining two separate journals, but most of those entries will be friends locked/filtered. If you want to be able to read that stuff, you probably just need to ask and I'll add you. Otherwise, I probably won't automatically be friending everyone who adds me on LJ to see my art updates. Nothing personal. I just can't keep up with that much content.
